WOMEN ALIKE ABREAST A RIVER DRAGON BOAT TEAM
Welcome to our official web site! For those who don't know, we're a group of breast cancer survivors from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. 1999 marked the inauguration of the Women Alike Dragon Boat Team. Our team supports both recreational and competitive paddlers and competes in a number of breast cancer awareness events each year.

  THE DRAGON BOAT
Dragon Boat participants learn a new sport, recovering physically and emotionally from breast cancer, becoming stronger, athletic and courageous individuals. These women are truly an example to us all.

  IN THE BOAT
We paddle together. We support each other. We learn from each other. We relish our moments on the water. We enjoy the thrill of competition. We overcome the fear of sinking. We are proud of our accomplishments. We break the silence of cancer. We make true friends. We encourage others to get in the boat with us.

  YOUR INVOLVEMENT
We are your mothers, your sisters, your daughters, your aunts, your grandmothers, your friends. Breast cancer affects us all. Our goal is to promote a message of hope and health for all those living and coping with this disease.

Joining The Abreast A River Dragon Boat Team
Abreast a River welcomes all breast cancer survivors who want to paddle. Some of our members are recreational paddlers while others enjoy the thrill of racing in competitions.
